Conversations about mental health and well-being
Tina Clawson - Student Affairs Service Award 2007-08
Statement of Wonderfulness
In Celebration of
“She is one of the most positive, supportive, thoughtful, and caring members of our department.”
Tina Clawson is the Administrative Program Assistant for the Department of Recreational Sports. On paper, her responsibilities include providing administrative support, assessment coordination, and membership recruitment and retention. However, after just one conversation with any of her colleagues, it is easy to see how this extraordinary woman truly exemplifies the spirit of the Service Award.
Tina has made a difference by providing her keen ability to notice the small, important details. “She quietly creates systems, develops processes, communicates ideas, involves others and carries forward a tremendous amount of passion and commitment.” A hard worker indeed; she executes her responsibilities with a gracious & smiling attitude - something everyone around her appreciates.
Tina has put forth an amazing effort in coordinating the department’s assessment program. She serves on the department Assessment Program Committee as well as the Student Affairs Assessment Council. Tina also brings enthusiasm to her efforts with membership recruitment for Dixon Recreation Center. This past year, she re-energized the Dixon Member Open House, with sincere intentions of connecting colleagues throughout our entire campus.
Tina has had an impact on many students through the development of programs like “Coffee Conversations.” A series established for Campus Wellness Week that encouraged students to talk about their spiritual wellness. She has set time aside to mentor student employees by focusing on their personal and professional development, and has even helped make sure that a student does not go hungry when money gets tight.
Birthday celebrations in Rec. Sports would be a bore without Tina’s enthusiastic planning and preparation. She ensures that each birthday is special-- and is even known for going out of her way to create a special dessert.
Simply put, Tina is enthusiastic, effervescent, and uplifting.
Thank you Tina for all you have done!
